Kraven managed to drug Spider-Man by shooting him with a dart, rendering the Super Hero comatose for two weeks, and burying him alive. After triumphantly roaming the streets of New York and masquerading as Spider-Man for a time, Kraven killed himself after Spider-Man dug out of his premature grave and confronted the hunter. Kraven remained dead for years, with his children continuing his vendetta against Spider-Man, before his daughter resurrected him. The resurrection proved incomplete however, with Kraven only capable of freeing himself of his cursed existence by killing Spider-Man. Much like the Wakandan Embassy, the Sanctum Sanctorum returns from the previous games, but there’s a big boost to the abode of Doctor Strange in this title.

You’re going to go up against several supervillains during your time as Spider-Man, and maybe you want to know about all bosses that appear in Spider-Man 2. As the story continues, we see several worlds colliding in the lives of Miles, Peter, and MJ. Miles, a student at Brooklyn Visions Academy, sees all of his friends solidifying their plans for college—but he is feeling left out. He’s been so focused on other things; he hasn’t had time to think about the future.

Lizard creates one of the game’s best chases as the hunters and Spider-Men try to nab him across NYC’s waterways. Thankfully, Peter and Miles get to him first, beat him down, and cure him. MJ does admittedly look different to the young reporter in 2018, but this is because of a new haircut combined with advancements in graphics and face capturing. When webbed, enemies are more vulnerable to attacks, or they can be stuck to walls and other surfaces to take them out of the action. The Web-Shooters are always accessible, and always reliable, providing players with a gadget that can constantly stick more bad guys to a knockout. Spider-man 2 actively drip feeds you new side activities as you progress the story, so that was the driving factor in making sure I regularly paid attention to the main quests as well. Even in emotional outbursts and tense confrontations, there’s no edge to anyone or any sense of an inner life. They’re so blandly nice it tips over into being unsettling—you keep getting that feeling like everyone’s waiting for you to leave so they can badmouth you behind your back. The result is a cinematic but messy experience that not only still bears all the same flaws as its predecessor, but in many areas—particularly the storytelling—feels like a step backwards.
